Position #: 152736 Expected Start Date: August 17, 2026 Union: SUN Facility: Weyburn Primary Health Care City/Town: Weyburn Department: Diabetic Nurse Educator Type: Part-time temporary Expected Up to Date: January 31, 2027 FTE: 0.82 Shift Information: Days Number of Hours per Rotation: 183.68 hours per 6 weeks Relief: No Float: No Hours of Work: Standard Hours Salary or Pay Band: Pay Band Nurse B $42.040 to $52.440 Travel Required: Yes Job Description: Under the direction of the Manager, the Nurse Educator integrates knowledge, skills and the principles of teaching and learning, in the provision of diabetes education and quality care for clients and families, the general public and health professionals. Teaching can occur in inpatient, outpatient or community settings, with individuals or groups. The incumbent will provide visible, proactive leadership and promote the delivery of client-centered care through educational activities. The incumbent is responsible for assessing learning needs and planning, implementing, and evaluating educational activities for clients/families/health professionals. The Diabetes Nurse Educator will use a consultative approach, accepted standards and guidelines and current research findings to provide support to clients and health care professionals as appropriate. Human Resources Exemption: No Experience * Experience in program development * 3 years experience working in an acute care setting (experience teaching adults) Education * Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) * Diabetes Education certificate * Certification in insulin pumps Licenses * Basic Life Support Instructor Certificate (BLS) Memberships * Diabetes Education Section (DES) Knowledge and Abilities * Ability to empathize with clients while remaining objective * Commitment to continued learning and professional development. * Ability to work as a member of a team * Ability to maintain client/patient/resident confidentiality * Demonstrated knowledge of teaching abilities & group facilitation skills * Ability to delegate appropriately. * Demonstrates leadership abilities * Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety and Regulations * Ability to work independently * Demonstrates strong communication and organizational skills * Knowledge in scope of practice * Ability to work in a computerized environment Other Information * Registered/eligible with the College of Registered Nurses of Saskatchewan (CRNS) * For more information on the city of Weyburn please visit https://weyburn.ca/ * May be eligible for Recruitment and/or Retention Incentives * Scheduled hours of work may be reduced when a statutory holiday is recognized The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) is the largest employer in Saskatchewan, employing more than 45,000 staff in a dynamic healthcare environment.
